I was just getting everything prepped to be on-call for an upcoming birth when I received an e-mail informing me that the baby was coming early! Ashley had been admitted to the hospital and would be induced in the early afternoon. She figured it would take a while for active labor to kick in, so I waited at home until finally heading out to the hospital around 9PM.
When I arrived, Ashley was resting and family members were waiting for the arrival of sweet Abigail. I snuck into the room for a bit and caught a few shots as family members chatted and gave words of encouragement. Ashley was so sweet to everyone, you would hardly know she was in labor.
Things felt like they were moving slow, but her body was working and within a few hours, it seemed like time to push. The nurse came in and coached her through a few contractions, but baby wasn't quite ready yet after all. Just another hour or so was all it took though, and finally, Ashley got to push her baby girl out and hold her for the first time.
And what a beautiful and emotional entrance into the world! Ashley was amazing. So patient and strong. Her family was so supportive - you could just feel the love radiating from everyone in the room for this little family and their beautiful baby girl.
After the cord stopped pulsing and was cut, dad held his daughter for the first time, and proud grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles and cousins filed in to greet Abigail.
I was so honored to be at this birth and am so grateful I can share these images with you. I can't get enough of this precious tiny face! Congratulations Ashley and Adam, and welcome to the world, Abigail!
