When a new baby enters our life, everyone tends to focus on that new little being. And it is natural, and good, and why wouldn't we? We love to send out announcements and pictures. Friends and family come and visit to see that sweet new babe. It is a special event that we will never forget and we often remember when things took place in our timeline based off of birthdays.
And this is why I love newborn photography and why I think it is so important to also photograph the rest of the family. To remember what haircut little Johnny had or that favorite shirt he had to wear every day, what house you lived in and the furniture you had or artwork on the walls, or that look in your partner's eyes as they gazed at your family, or what mom looked like before your children could even remember.
Photos so rich you can almost smell the scent of the room they were taken in.
That fresh newborn stage is so short. Babies grow so quickly and there is nothing quite like this phase in life. It can be both slow and long and terrifying and beautiful. It is one of my favorite stages to document and I think, one of the hardest to truly remember. Think of how often, upon seeing a newborn baby, we hear (or exclaim ourselves): "I forget how little they are".
This sweet home session just seeps warmth and love and light to me and I was so glad that I was able to capture these images and share them with you.
