For Memorial Day, we decided to take a day trip up to Sequim to check out the spit at the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge. After a quick stop at our favorite coffee shop, Hurricane Coffee Company, we headed out for our trek. We didn't make it very far down the beach - after walking the 1/2 mile hike down to the beach, the kids both had to go to the bathroom so within 30 minutes we found ourselves walking back up to the restrooms and then feeding them their lunch before finally heading back. But we had a great time climbing on driftwood, hiding in the tall beach grass, and watching the roaring waves rip by the shore.
After a few hours, we headed back up and packed up. On a whim, we decided to stop by the waterfall in Brinnon before heading home. We hadn't been there since Shea was under 3 and Hailey was just a newborn. They absolutely loved it and were climbing all over the place.
Any trip with kids takes a little extra time and patience, and you definitely don't always get to do the things you might like, but we had a really fun time together and I am excited for the summer and to keep finding more little gems like these places to visit soon! Below is a full gallery of some other shots from the day. Thanks for visiting!
